More Doggie News.

A big THANK YOU to Heidi Miller for sponsoring 'Panda" and 'Black-to-Brown'?! Shown here going for her spay operation, with Panda (previously neutered) looking on. She was starving and too sick to be spayed when we first found her.

We're still looking for someone to sponsor a pennyless old woman and take over from Gary and me! Please see Post of March 24, 2010.

New: HIV Prevention Program!

We are happy to present a brief overview of our new program just started, in Takua Pha, Thailand:

ALL FOR VILLAGES-HIV PREVENTION FUND
A program for low-income pregnant women.

OBJECTIVES:

* To prevent HIV transmission from pregnant, HIV-positive women to their unborn children.

* To cover the costs of this medication and blood tests for mother and child, for patients who can not afford it and who have no health card. (Frequently these women are Burmese.)

* To provide supplementary salary for Interpreter/Health Educator, starting at 3,000 Baht/month. (approximately $100/mo.)

* AND … OUR HOPE: To provide powdered milk for the baby, for one year, because breast milk can transmit HIV. This, unfortunately, is expensive!

Fundraising will be done by Gro Kalsaas, Amanda de Normanville and Gary Soden, and the non-profit, California-based organization All for Villages, Inc.

Takua Pha hospital staff will implement the program, following the model of the Norwegian/All for Villages Fund, with a dedicated bank account. For this Prevention program receipts for each disbursement will be provided.

If you would like to donate specifically to this fund, please write 'HIV Prevention' on your check, and mail to All for Villages, Inc. 530 Green Court, Santa Rosa, CA USA.
Thank you so much.
